Temple Canyon

Natural processes carved this canyon into a series of sheer walls, tall pillars, and towering arches that have reminded men of a great cathedral since ancient times. Numerous religious faithful have created holy (or unholy) sites here. Some, like those who worship Abadar or Aroden, actually carve into the stone, turning the natural pillars and arches into beautiful stone chapels, while others, like worshippers of Desna or Shelyn, prefer the natural look of the rock and create simple shrines within their shade.

The canyon has numerous side corridors, winding endlessly through the stone. Major, accepted religions have built and established their sites within the main canyon, while smaller cults of less popular, more warlike, or evil gods create shrines and altars in the hidden alcoves.

Temple Canyon rarely had permanent residents beyond a handful of shrine guardians until local bandit groups began using the site as a supply cache. Pilgrims seeking solace (and solitude) would occasionally pass through to make their offerings to whatever god they chose, but those days are all but gone. Bandits hold the area in a near choke hold, and only the desperate or suicidal venture there now.
